What will we do?
In this unique workshop, we invite you to travel back in time and discover the deepest roots of Canarian culture.
We'll begin with an introduction to the Canary Islands' past , exploring the traces of the ancient settlers, their way of life, and their connection to the land and the sea One of the workshop's highlights will be the presentation of Silbo, the whistled language that the Canary Islands' indigenous people developed to communicate across ravines and long distances.
You'll learn about its origins, its social function, and its continued existence as an Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity. You'll also hear live examples and learn the basic principles of this unique communication system. An enriching experience that will allow you to connect with the cultural identity of the islands , better understand their history, and admire the ancient wisdom of their earliest inhabitants.

Fun Fact
Although it is known worldwide as Silbo Gomero, forms of whistled language existed on other islands, such as El Hierro and Tenerife. However, on La Gomera, it is taught as a compulsory subject in schools.
